    Description

A thriving central Illinois grain company is seeking a General Manager to replace their retiring GM. With nearly 120 years of rich tradition, providing great customer service, they need a grain professional with solid merchandising experience and excellent people skills.

Led by a passionate farmer board that desires to remain strong and independent, this elevator is a customer-owned, community-oriented, and dedicated to serving the local farmers of the area, big and small. They have made significant improvements, investing millions of dollars in growth projects in the last 10+ years, including four bins, a dump pit, new leg, dryer, and more.

To win in this role, you must have a keen sense and aptitude for merchandising, enjoy handling the logistics of moving grain by truck and rail, and excel in relating to customers as you originate grain and interact on a daily basis. Experience in managing people, an outgoing personality, and honest, effective communication skills are key as is familiarity with rail and truck transportation.

Having a general entrepreneurial spirit, a can-do attitude and the ability to be aggressive and forward thinking will guide you to leading this company and keeping it profitable and competitive. In addition, a friendly and outgoing personality that can build strong relationships with current and new customers is crucial.

This company has a fantastic team of talented people already in place; you must have the desire and ability to lead and support the team and learn all aspects of the business. The outside team is exceptional; they are experienced, dedicated, and stable as they do a great job managing the daily outside elevator operations.

You will have an exciting opportunity to take the wheel and steer the team through the challenges and opportunities that arise, including a loyal and long-time office team member retiring, increasing rail loading capacity, growing the customer base, keeping bids competitive while remaining healthy and independent, and continuing to provide the best customer service in their area.

With a loyal customer base, well-maintained facilities, a strong financial balance sheet, great team members, and a supportive board and community, this is an excellent opportunity for a grain professional seeking to control their own destiny and put their positive stamp on a company and a community.

Are you a good and fair leader desiring to step into a leadership role where you will make key decisions that impact the company's success? Do you enjoy interacting regularly with customers, board members, and team members and making the elevator a place where customers feel welcome and want to bring their grain? Are you working in a merchandising or a trading role or under a successful grain manager and have that hunger to have your own facility?

If your answer is yes to any of the above, and you want to learn more about this unique opportunity to come and be a part of something special, contact Dave Allen (dave@agri-search.com) or Chelbi Alt (chelbi@agri-search.com) today.
