Description

Highly successful, growth-oriented, single location cooperative grain company in central Illinois is seeking to replace their retiring General Manager with the next generation leader. This individual will provide strong leadership for the future success and growth of the company.

The new GM will be able to put their own stamp on a quality, financially-solid business. This is an opportunity to create your own path and be in charge of a very nice modern facility with loyal customers who desire for the coop to be successful long-term. You will enjoy partnering with a Board that has vision and believes 100% in the company, lets their manager manage, and has a passion to help the elevator, its employees, and customers succeed.

The successful candidate will utilize their grain industry and management experience, strong character and integrity, and passion for leading and serving people to guide and carry out the long-term vision for the company.

To be highly effective in this position, candidates must be outgoing, self-driven and have a positive mindset. A strong understanding of grain marketing and merchandising, solid grain accounting and financial background, a growth-oriented mindset, excellent people management and communications skills, a solid leadership track record, and a passion for building a solid team of employees who are dedicated to serving the customers well are all key.

The Board desires continued growth and expansion whether in trade territory, customer base, or storage capacity. The new General Manager must be a forward thinker who has the ability to work with the Board in establishing a vision for the future, stay focused on new and future growth opportunities, and plan and carry out capital projects for continued growth and expansion.

This cooperative has developed a reputation for being the best service elevator in the area, from getting trucks in and out to settlement paperwork to friendly customer service. With over 110 years of success and a loyal customer base that cares about their elevator, they desire to remain independent and to continue to provide the very best service possible. The new General Manager will enjoy getting out and meeting with customers and being a part of the community. A good sense of humor and a keen ability to listen to all stakeholders in the company will be invaluable.

This elevator has in place a great team of professionals who are ranked as one of the most efficient teams in the Illinois grain industry. This will help ensure a smooth transition as the company continues to move forward in a positive, customer-friendly and profitable manner.

In recent years, significant capital projects have helped to make this elevator more efficient and attractive to a larger pool of farmers. They strive to continually make significant investments in their facilities to meet the demand of today's producers. Combining excellent facilities with a great team of people, they are well equipped to continue to grow and be a competitive leader in their geographic area.

If you are looking to lead a financially-stable, successful company and appreciate the ongoing management challenges being a General Manager entails, take a strong look at this opportunity. If managing risk while continuing to grow; managing people and helping them grow; dealing with ongoing changes in federal and state regulations related to banking, safety, environmental and other issues; meeting operational and logistical challenges as patrons continue to rapidly grow; and other challenges inherent to the grain industry all excite you, this may be an opportunity that fits you perfectly.

Located among some of the best farmland in the Midwest and in the midst of a thriving rural area with excellent schools, communities, and family values, you will have the benefit of living in the country or in one of several forward-thinking, progressive communities nearby. You will also be within easy driving distance of a wide variety of educational, entertainment, and cultural opportunities.

Interviews for this position will be held in early Spring 2018 with the intent of having the new General Manager on the job no later than July 1, 2018. Salary will likely be in the $80-120,000 range based on experience with excellent benefits and a healthy bonus based on company profitability.
