Uniquely and beautifully located organic farm in Hawaii needs a dedicated Farm Manager to oversee all activity and operations on this small acreage, highly productive farm growing three specialty crops.
You will utilize your business management skills to efficiently run the farm business and make good decisions. You will be responsible for managing everything going on at the farm including equipment and typically 10 farm hands, most of whom are long-term employees and are very knowledgeable about how the cropping program needs to run.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6-8 years of agricultural experience, and your current role does not have to be managing a farm. Your skillset and experiences must line up with what they need, primarily business acumen and successful experience managing people. Being handy with equipment is a bonus, although much of the work on the farm is manual. It is also a perfect opportunity if you are later in your career but not ready to retire, and living in a nice bungalow in Hawaii will work for you.
You will be the point of contact for this farm with customers; good social and interpersonal communication skills are a must. Solid integrity and a willingness to communicate with a variety of people are key.
Your primary day-to-day responsibilities will include handling orders with customers and making sure orders do not exceed supply, managing the quality of the farm's products, and overseeing the farm hands making sure everything is properly harvested, washed, and prepared before it is shipped.
This farm harvests and ships product around the world approximately nine months of the year, and there are times they are harvesting and planting concurrently.
Located on one of the beautiful Hawaiian islands rich with agriculture, this farm is fairly secluded but is an easy 20-minute drive to the second-largest city on the island that has all the amenities a family will need. Transportation to the US mainland is simple, with a 30-minute drive to the airport and direct flights to major US airports.
Compensation will be competitive, with a base salary likely in the $100-120,000 range based on experience. Housing is provided, including a very nice bungalow on the farm with an incredible ocean view; other housing is available on the island if it better fits your family. Other benefits are negotiable based on need.
Available immediately, this is a rare and amazing opportunity for the right person who desires to manage a productive farm operation in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Qualified candidates, please contact Dave Allen or Chelbi Williams Alt today!
