Description
A respected agricultural company in Central Illinois is seeking a strategic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its executive leadership team. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment while working alongside a team that values collaboration, integrity, and long-term commitment.
This company seeks a CFO with a strategic mindset, strong financial acumen, and the ability to lead with humility and integrity. The ideal candidate is an emotionally intelligent communicator who can break down complex financial data for diverse audiences and help coach others in financial literacy.
A servant leader’s mindset is essential; someone who encourages co-workers and empowers teams, builds trust, and values collaboration over control is desired. The right individual will thrive in a fast-paced, high-accountability culture, be adaptable to change, and know when to take the lead and when to support from behind the scenes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide executive leadership for all financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, tax, and audit
- Deliver timely, accurate financial reports and strategic insights to support leadership decision-making
- Collaborate with the leadership team and department leaders to drive profitability and smart growth
- Serve as a teacher, mentor, and coach to department leaders, especially the next generation of emerging talent in three key departments, as well as with the admin team at all locations
- Oversee risk management practices and ensure strong internal controls and compliance
- Break down silos and encourage transparency, financial education, and accountability across the organization
- Participate in growth strategies, including expansion projects and capital planning
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA strongly preferred
- Minimum 7–10 years in senior accounting or finance roles (Controller, VP of Finance, CFO)
- Experience in a cooperative, grain, agronomy, or ag-related business is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of grain accounting, mark-to-market principles, and inventory management is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to manage cash flow, debt, and financial planning in a complex, seasonal industry
This is more than just a CFO role; it is an opportunity to contribute to a deeply respected organization with over a century of success and a forward-thinking strategy. You will be joining a high-performing leadership team and a loyal workforce that is proud of its culture and service to agriculture.
The organization is positioned for continued growth, and this role provides the opportunity to shape the financial direction, influence strategic decisions, and mentor the next generation of leadership. It is a nimble organization that is growing organically and strategically, and where decisions are made locally
This company operates in person, and the CFO must live within a reasonable commuting distance to the company’s Central Illinois headquarters. Competitive compensation, a strong benefits package, and the opportunity to leave a lasting impact make this a compelling leadership opportunity for the right candidate.
