Description
We are seeking someone to manage a seed processing plant in southwestern Wisconsin. The goal for this career opportunity is focused on making the plant operate efficiently by utilizing the labor force to increase plant through put.
The primary responsibilities are planning, communicating the plan, and follow through to accomplish the plan. This plant is fast paced with daily changes. A variety of seeds are processed here with corn, soybeans, and rye being the primary crops. There are conventional and organic variances.
You must have an understanding of how the manufacturing process works and what is needed to switch from one crop to another. You will receive detailed instructions on production goals. It will be your responsibility to place your team in the right roles and make sure you have the needed machinery, bags, tags, and containers in place and ready to go when the line starts. This is seasonal work with crops coming in at different times throughout the season.
This role is designed for someone who has managed people, processes, or manufacturing in an ag or non ag company. The seed processing component can be taught and learned. The art of managing a team and understanding the human factor needs to be a part of you at the time of hire. Agricultural backgrounds and education are desired, but not required. You need to share the passion of attention to detail and providing the customer with the highest quality seed that can be delivered.
Communication skills are vital in order for you to succeed. The work force is tenured and tight with turnover mostly limited to retirements. You will direct them to what needs to be done next. You must talk and direct without being overbearing or micromanaging. The company is very family focused and believes in being flexible.
The company is known for being nimble and niche focused. They have established themselves as a company with a focus on seed quality, relationships, and innovation by offering a full suite of services from custom breeding to grower aggregation and direct-to-farm delivery. The region is scenic with excellent quality of life and activities for all ages. It is a great place to raise a family.
Should you be hired, the company provides you excellent benefits, opportunities for advancement, possible relocation, and a yearly compensation that ranges from $70,000 to $110,000. The company wants to fill this now.
