The new GM must have strong grain merchandising skills and a solid knowledge of various grain marketing contracts and tools to assist farmers with their marketing programs. A positive, professional attitude with a desire to make changes for the good of the customer along with strong technical skills and an ability to evaluate and use computers and new technology in managing grain sheets, inventory and operations will be a big plus.

Being the leader of a smaller company, this GM will wear many hats and be a hands-on manager. Communicating clearly and dealing well with team members, customers, truckers and vendors is critical. Understanding the operations side and being involved in all aspects of the business is also key in order to train new team members, oversee grain quality, and make plans for upgrades or changes to facilities as needed.

Salary will likely be in the $90-120,000 range based on experience with excellent benefits and a bonus based on achieving goals and company profitability.
