Description

We have partnered with a growing agricultural services organization dedicated to helping farmers access federal programs and protect their operations through insurance. With an established producer customer base and an affiliated insurance agency preparing to launch federal crop insurance sales, the organization is seeking an experienced leader to bring structure, accountability, and operational direction to its next stage of growth. This is a remote opportunity open to candidates anywhere in the United States.

This organization is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to serve as the CEO’s execution partner across both businesses. This person will be a hands-on leader who can translate ideas into action, develop department leaders, and build the systems and processes needed to support growth.

The Chief Operating Officer will ensure sales, analysis, compliance, invoicing, and insurance operations work together effectively. They will strengthen an existing agricultural services business while helping an affiliated insurance agency secure the relationships, licensing, and operational capabilities needed to begin selling federal crop insurance. This position is ideal for an experienced operator who enjoys building businesses, solving problems, and taking ownership of results.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Overseeing operations across both businesses, ensuring departments are aligned with company goals.
  • Translating the CEO’s vision into clear operating plans, priorities, and measurable results.
  • Implementing systems, processes, and reporting to improve efficiency, profitability, and accountability.
  • Coaching and developing department leaders and remote teams to take ownership of their responsibilities.
  • Securing a host-agency or Approved Insurance Provider (AIP) relationship.
  • Improving technology and data systems, including CRM, agency management, and performance dashboards.
  • Evaluating new revenue opportunities and helping establish additional offices or business units.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor and partner to the CEO, identifying challenges early and bringing practical solutions.

The ideal candidate will lead with integrity, confidence, and accountability. They will communicate openly, build trust across teams, and balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

Property and casualty insurance operations experience is required, including familiarity with agency licensing, carrier or AIP appointments, compliance, and errors and omissions coverage. Candidates must hold a P&C producer license or be willing to obtain one within 90 days. Federal crop insurance experience and established relationships with AIPs, managing general agents, or carriers are strong advantages.

Experience working with farmers, USDA/FSA offices, or other government agencies will also be valuable. Financial acumen, P&L ownership, and a record of implementing business systems are important to success. Experience opening new offices and connections in the Southeast are beneficial.

This opportunity is structured as an independent contractor engagement, with the COO operating through their own entity and managing their own schedule. The role will come with a competitive base compensation and performance bonuses tied to agreed upon goals.

The Chief Operating Officer will have the opportunity to improve an established business, help launch a new insurance operation, and make a meaningful difference for the producers both businesses serve.

If you’re an experienced leader who values integrity, takes initiative, and enjoys turning plans into results, reach out to Brad Jansen today!
