Description
An established agricultural trading company is expanding its feed ingredients business and seeking a Merchandiser to help lead that growth. The team has a strong foundation in DDGs and other corn and wheat byproducts, with an opportunity to develop new customers, territories, and product lines.
This is a hands-on commercial role combining sales, merchandising, logistics, and business development. You will work with feed mills, feedlots, ranches, and other buyers to build relationships, structure trades, coordinate freight, and deliver reliable service.
What you’ll do
- Grow a book of business in feed ingredients, including opportunities in eastern markets.
- Develop supplier and customer relationships and identify new trading opportunities.
- Manage the logistics behind your trades, with support from an established team and systems.
- Make sound decisions about market and freight risk and understand their impact on the P&L.
- Contribute to the direction and growth of the feed ingredients team.
What you bring
- Experience in feed ingredient merchandising, grain trading, agricultural sales, or a logistics-intensive commercial role.
- Strong customer development skills and a practical understanding of freight.
- Comfort working with margins, positions, and the financial results of your decisions.
- Initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
The company is open to any experience level from Junior to Senior level merchandisers. Strong logistics experience is a must. The Kansas City team works primarily in the office and offers schedule autonomy as you establish yourself. Compensation includes a strong base salary, and an industry leading incentive plan.
