We are partnering with an extremely well-run family-focused company located in Southwest Arizona. They are seeking a Senior Controller for their large and growing produce, seed, cotton and grain farming operation. This is an exciting opportunity to join the senior management team and contribute to a dynamic, agriculture-based business with an outstanding culture and team of professionals.
The Senior Controller will oversee the company’s financial and fiscal management, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in forecasting and budgeting, general ledger management, accounts receivable and payable, payroll, financial reporting, risk management, lender relations, and taxes. In this role, you will also provide detailed analysis on capital improvements, equipment needs, and investments. The company operates on an accrual basis and follows GAAP standards. The ideal candidate will be expected to prepare and monitor the company’s budget, generate monthly reports, and oversee three direct reports within the accounting team, including Accounts Payable / Payroll, a Cost Accounting Specialist, and an Accounting Assistant.
This position requires hands-on involvement in the day-to-day financial operations of the company, including the consolidation of financials across four entities. The Senior Controller will play a key role in supporting the company's growth by implementing new processes, optimizing resource allocation, and recommending cost-saving measures. Additionally, the Senior Controller will be responsible for analyzing new equipment purchases and investments, ensuring that the company makes sound financial decisions as it expands.
Key qualifications include:
- A minimum of seven years of finance experience with a strong background in cost accounting
- CPA or CMA certification is preferred but not required
- Agriculture experience is beneficial but not essential
- Strong management skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and offer strategic input in management discussions
- Fluency in English and Spanish is recommended
- Experience with Microsoft Business Central and ERP systems
