Looking Ahead to 2025: Embracing Change and Moving Forward
AGRI-SEARCH Featured Recruiter: Vic Heinold
As we approach 2025, I find myself reflecting deeply on the changes ahead, not just for our team but also for me personally. I’m at a stage in life where my career is closer to the end than the beginning. This is quite different from the beginnings and growth opportunities that many of the new team members in our organization are experiencing. The loss of my wife, my best friend, has added another layer of reflection, challenging me to consider what the next chapter holds for me, both personally and professionally.
For many of us who have reached this point in life, change can feel particularly daunting. The question that’s lingered in my mind for months is this: Should I step back, ride off into the proverbial sunset, or do I lean into this new season, using my 13 years in recruiting and a lifetime of experience in agriculture to contribute to our team’s ambitious goals?
After much contemplation, I’ve come to a clear decision. I’m staying. I’ve chosen to fully embrace the opportunities and challenges ahead. My passion for working with incredible clients and candidates remains as strong as ever, and I’m energized by the chance to help them succeed. Just as importantly, I’m committed to mentoring and collaborating with the other recruiters on our team, helping them reach their goals and continue to drive our collective success.
This decision brings to mind a lesson my father often shared. My dad was a farmer until 1935, and he never drove a tractor, but he was an expert in teamwork and mentorship. He would talk about pairing a young colt with an experienced workhorse to plow the fields. The colt, full of energy, would try to push the older horse to move faster in the morning, but the seasoned horse maintained a steady, deliberate pace. By the end of the day, the roles would reverse, and it was the old horse who had to steady and guide the colt back to the barn.
As the “old horse,” I look forward to the year ahead with renewed purpose. My hope is to contribute to a strong, steady pace for our team as we tackle exciting goals, and to draw energy from the enthusiasm and drive of the incredible talent around me. Together, we’ll continue to make a difference in the greatest industry in this country: agriculture.
I’m looking forward to 2025 and all the opportunities it will bring both for growth and for the relationships I will continue to build along the way. Thank you for allowing me to remain part of this journey. Let’s make it a great year!
