Description

A family farming operation in western Kansas is seeking an Operations Manager to join their team.  This farm consists of 16,000 acres and is operated by the third generation.  Crops grown consist of wheat, milo, corn, and pinto beans with approximately one fourth of the acreage being irrigated. This is a rural region with excellent schools and churches and is a great place to raise a family.

The Operations Manager works closely with the farm owners and is responsible for managing seven to ten H2A employees.  You will actively recruit, hire, train, and evaluate the staff.  You will be responsible for safety trainings and protocols.  Equipment on the farm is all John Deere and precision systems use the John Deere platform.  You may operate equipment as needed, but this is not your primary focus.  You will manage all service and maintenance and will be responsible for knowing when to call in a professional to make a repair.

The farm owners desire an individual who sees the big picture and can be a partner when it comes to strategic planning, budgeting, and prioritizing capital needs.  A working knowledge and experience operating large farm machinery coupled to LEAN manufacturing skills and operating efficiencies are vital to your success.  Irrigation and grain storage experience is desired.

The farm owners will provide you opportunities for learning and expanding your skillset through peer group mentoring.  You are encouraged to build camaraderie with the team.  The farm is faith based and family focused with no work on Sundays.

A competitive compensation package coupled to performance bonuses will be provided.  You will have full benefits, housing, vehicle, and a credit card for farm related purchases.  You can expect to earn a salary of $100,000 to $120,000 per year.

Looking for a "once in a lifetime" farming opportunity?  This is a "dream come true" for someone who enjoys the challenges and rewards of overseeing a large farming operation.  Contact Jim Fleming.
