Description
A diversified and tenured grain company is seeking an Elevator General Manager to lead two grain locations in eastern North Dakota. The operation is conveniently located within commuting distance of both Fargo and Grand Forks.
This is a highly visible leadership position with responsibility for both grain operations and origination. The General Manager will lead a team of approximately 10 employees while overseeing facility performance, grain quality, inventory, safety, maintenance, logistics, and customer relationships across both locations.
The company needs an assertive, hands-on leader who will set clear expectations, hold employees accountable, and create consistency throughout the operation. This individual must be willing to make decisions, address problems directly, and work alongside the team when needed. Just as importantly, the General Manager will coach and develop employees while building a culture centered on teamwork, safety, reliability, and strong customer service.
On the commercial side, this individual will maintain regular communication with producers, purchase and originate grain, and work closely with the merchandising team to grow volume and coordinate grain movement. The General Manager will play an important role in strengthening existing customer relationships, identifying new origination opportunities, and ensuring producers receive responsive, dependable service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership for two grain locations and approximately 10 employees
- Oversee grain operations, including receiving, storage, drying, conditioning, blending, inventory management, and loadout
- Lead grain origination efforts and maintain strong relationships with area producers
- Establish clear expectations while training, developing, and holding employees accountable
- Ensure facilities meet company standards for safety, maintenance, housekeeping, efficiency, and regulatory compliance
- Coordinate grain movement, transportation, and logistics with merchandising and regional leadership
- Identify and implement improvements to facility performance, equipment reliability, customer service, and grain volume
The ideal candidate will have significant grain elevator experience along with a successful record of leading employees. Grain origination, purchasing, or merchandising experience is strongly preferred. This person should be confident making decisions, comfortable addressing performance issues, and capable of balancing operational leadership with producer-facing commercial responsibilities.
Candidates should bring strong communication skills, mechanical aptitude, sound judgment, and a genuine commitment to safety and customer service.
Compensation will be competitive and flexible based on experience. The company offers strong benefits, long-term stability, and the opportunity to lead an important part of a successful grain organization.
