Specialty foods company is seeking a Research Technician for their hybrid seed division based in central Indiana.
This hands-on role provides a great way for you to enter the fast-paced food industry with excellent options for professional growth while working in diverse situations in both the field and the plant. You will operate farm machinery and make repairs and adjustments. During the winter, you will be preparing and packaging seeds for shipment to South America. You will make repairs on equipment to get things in order for planting. In the spring, you will drive a tractor or ride on the planter. Then, you may walk the fields scouting for emergence and weed and insect pressures. When the crop is growing, you will perform hand pollination. Later, you will oversee harvest and ensure a quality product.
The company will look at experienced candidates or someone who is just getting started. The level of education is open. Mechanical aptitude is important, and candidates who can operate a variety of tractors and farm machinery coupled with a farm background will be highly desired.
They seek a team member who will ask questions, follow directions, is a team player, and is committed to providing a quality product. You will need to get a Class A CDL and pesticide license; these are not required at the time of hire, but you will be expected to test.
