A reputable and growing family farm in central Missouri is seeking a hardworking, self-driven Farm Assistant to join their team.
The ideal candidate will have an agricultural background with a minimum of eight years farm experience and diverse skills and experiences, along with the desire to jump in and do what is needed. This will include all activities involved with planting and harvesting corn and soybeans.
You will be responsible for operating a corn planter in the spring; previous planting experience is ideal. In the fall, you will run a combine, grain cart or semi as needed. Besides working seasonally with planting and harvest activities, you will also have the opportunity to assist with livestock work as needed. If you are good with technology and can write prescriptions for the corn planter or have other skills that allow you to take on additional tasks or solve problems, your value and compensation will increase.
You must be a critical thinker, have good math and leadership skills, and be a team player who completes your primary tasks then assists others with theirs as needed in areas such as maintenance, upkeep, help with spraying, filling seed wagons, pulling NH3 tanks, etc.
A general understanding of crop production, good mechanical / fabrication skills, and being able to work independently are a must. A minimum of junior college, trade or tech school education is preferred. The ideal candidate will have operated a sprayer, been a farm mechanic, or done other agricultural work, and will now enjoy this fresh new challenge.
Compensation for this dependable, trustworthy team member will start between $45-50,000 per year, with potential bonuses for diligent effort and excellent performance to get done what needs done on the farm. This will include longer planting and harvest season hours.
This farm offers personal and financial growth opportunities for an individual who is a “think out of the box” problem solver and is willing to learn and continue to take on more responsibility. You will not be micromanaged and will be treated more as a family member than as an employee.
