Central Illinois grain and livestock farm is seeking a full-time farm employee. This farm is located in the heart of Illinois and consists of corn, soybeans, and cows.
The position is open due to the retirement of the previous employee; the owner is seeking someone who will learn the operation and take on more responsibilities.
Tillage is one pass for corn and no till for beans; CaseIH machinery and a Kinze planter are used. All fertilizer and chemical applications are done by a third party.
The farm has 50 brood cows. Calves are sold to feed lots at six months of age.
Other tasks include hay baling using a round baler, keeping the equipment in good running order, and in the off season, making carpentry repairs on rental properties is a possibility.
This is a traditional farm role where you will be doing a variety of tasks every day.
You'll need good farm machinery skills with experience on equipment in excess of 20 years of age. A very good understanding of agronomy and the ability to help with agronomic and grain marketing decisions is needed, and carpentry skills are helpful.
The family wants someone who will represent them well in public, thus good grooming, good English, and dignity are important.
Compensation for this role will be a salary, plus a nice home and pickup truck.
$30-45,000 plus house and vehicle.
