Description
Multi-location and highly successful central Illinois grain company is seeking a Grain Merchandiser who desires to work in a country elevator and be a key part of the Grain division leadership team, make a great living, and have fun!
At this fast-paced company that does central hedging, you will be responsible for getting grain sold, understanding the company's entire logistics picture including truck and rail freight, and trade the CBOT. The other large part of this position is originating grain - communicating with customers, answering their questions, and buying their grain.
The qualified candidate will be passionate about the grain industry and be a leader, listener, and clear thinker who can execute and make good decisions. A good personality with the ability to connect quickly with people is key. Spending some time in the country getting to know customers and connecting with the other locations' staff will be critical, however, your time will predominantly be spent in the office and on the phone.
Grain professionals with 3-5, 10-12 or even more years of experience will be considered. A tremendous amount of experience is not required; however, you must have the ability to look at the marketing screen, know the risks, understand spreads, be able to quickly do math in your head, and have what it takes to not be intimidated to make trades. A seasoned grain merchandiser will be available to help you get acclimated.
The key thing is to have someone who will be engaged in the big picture of the business and is interested in the long game. You must be able to grow and aspire to ultimately take over the entire grain division leadership of running assets, working with vendors, and laying out long-term plans and growth projects.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a financially solid company with an exceptional track record for success. Salary will depend on experience and will likely range between $80,000 and $125,000+ based on experience with a generous bonus and retirement program as part of a full benefits package.
