Innovative, entrepreneurial, and expanding company with a highly successful track record is seeking a Farm Site Manager for a new Florida farm location. This trustworthy individual will come in, serve as the on-site manager for contractors building the roads, utilities, an office, greenhouses, and other buildings, then oversee the planting, growing, and harvesting of a specialty crop.
This person must have a strong farming background and business acumen to oversee this exciting new endeavor within their company. In this role, you will use your ag background and business experiences while having day-to-day contact with a wide variety of people ranging from other farming operations to research scientists and production managers.
Experience in a similar role and with nursery preparation, pivot irrigation, propagation programs, and fertilizer and pest management practices will be highly valued.
The successful candidate will be high energy and have a clear understanding of farming and agribusiness as well as business strategy, spreadsheets, and processes. The ideal candidate will have a farm background; a BS degree in Agricultural Science, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, or a related field and will have farming experience or have worked for a large agribusiness and prefer to get into a smaller, entrepreneurial company.
This is a new position that requires an enthusiastic, disciplined team member who understands farm production and can interpret costs, seasonal influences, production input and output levels, and can make sure that all cost, input, and output information is verifiable.
