Successful grain business in Central Illinois is seeking a self-directed Financial Controller to manage their financial and accounting activities.
This outgoing team player will enjoy wearing a lot of hats and working in a family-like atmosphere in a smaller, non-corporate environment. You will have autonomy to run the department and to play an important role in the leadership and management of this company and will get to experience and utilize your skills in many facets of accounting; you will not be stuck in one area or doing only repetitive tasks.
The successful candidate must have unquestionable integrity, be a good listener, and know how to prioritize and provide quick responses when needed. You must have good accounting knowledge and experience and enjoy having several tasks going simultaneously; you must be able to roll with the flow.
A CPA is not required if the education and diverse accounting experience are there. Ideal candidates will have an auditor and / or bookkeeping background in an agricultural business or within a small to mid-sized accounting firm where all aspects of accounting have been experienced. Agriculture / agribusiness knowledge is valuable; inventory accounting of any kind would be really valuable. Experience with Excel and developing and linking a variety of spreadsheets are also key.
Accuracy, a sense of urgency, patience, problem solving and multi-tasking skills are all words that describe this accounting professional. You must also enjoy providing excellent customer service and developing positive relationships with banking professionals and other vendors.
Responsibilities will include preparing, analyzing and finding issues in monthly and year-end reports, accounts payable / accounts receivable, payroll, and working with teammates on grain accounting and preparing grain pricing. You will take great pride in managing the big and small, while having confidence the work is being done correctly.
Constant communication with co-workers and a desire to support and help them accomplish their roles is critical. You must also be willing to adapt to the seasonal pressures (and longer hours as needed) of harvest and year-end with the high volume of grain coming in and cash disbursements going out.
This opportunity in the Peoria / Bloomington market offers a casual, friendly, and pleasant atmosphere with a small company where no one is looking over your shoulder and your efforts will be noticed and valued. You will enjoy and take pride in doing a variety of work and looking for the pieces to solve the problems at hand. Most importantly, you will make a difference.
Compensation will be a competitive salary based on experience, plus bonus. Excellent benefits including full health and dental and a 401k are also provided.
