Financially sound and well maintained Central Illinois Grain Terminal is seeking a new General Manager with the passion, integrity and drive to oversee all inside and outside operations at this truck and rail facility.
The selected grain professional will enjoy how the demands of the facility change daily and offer a variety of experiences and opportunities that make it fun. Your willingness to learn and your ability to lead will be key assets for success.
You must be a highly motivated and driven team player with successful grain merchandising experience. Honesty, trustworthiness and dependability will accompany your strong desire to serve all clientele with excellence and reliability.
This is a top-notch facility that has: technology and dumping capacity that surpasses a lot of the competition; the ability to load 110 car trains; access to multiple rail outlets to increase merchandising options; and enough storage capacity to carry grain.
It is a relatively young and highly respected grain company that is financially sound and offers the new GM an opportunity to continue to evolve and grow the business to meet the needs of its customers, better utilize the assets of the facilities, and to direct the path to new opportunities and business growth.
The new GM must have a diverse skill set and be able to see the big picture, delegate workload, be task-oriented, hard working and capable of wearing many hats. You must be energetic and able to multi-task, yet be methodical in decision making, as there is often several things happening at one time. In any given day, responsibilities may include those typically performed by a GM, CFO, Grain Originator and Grain Merchandiser.
Financial and grain accounting / bookkeeping experience are preferred; a willingness to learn their software and financial and accounting processes is a must.
The selected Manager will oversee inside as well as outside operations team members. Understanding grain handling, drying, blending and movement are key, along with coaching and mentoring skills so that you can explain and train the staff and be able to identify and deal with bottlenecks and breakdowns.
This is a unique opportunity in a great Central Illinois university community with quick and easy access to several additional key Central Illinois towns. You can live in a rural setting, small town, or more urban community all with excellent schools and be within a close commute to work, colleges, hospitals, and recreational opportunities. You will have a supportive Board and the luxury of working in a small company environment with many different customers ranging from grain elevators to farmers.
Candidates must have at least 3-5 years of grain industry experience; however, candidates with 20-30 years experience are also encouraged to apply. Merchandising experience including trading rail is a plus; experience as an Assistant Grain Manager or Elevator Location Manager where you have worked with, managed, and motivated team members would also be valuable.
Compensation will likely be in the $90-$125,000 range plus benefits and an attractive bonus program.
