    Central Illinois, United States

Highly successful, growth-oriented, single location cooperative grain company in Central Illinois is seeking a General Manager who will provide strong common-sense leadership for the future success and growth of the company.

The new GM will be able to put their own stamp on a quality, financially-solid business. This is an opportunity for an excellent leader to create your own path and be in charge of a very nice, modern facility with loyal customers who desire for the coop to be successful long-term. You will enjoy partnering with a Board that has vision and believes 100% in the company, lets their manager manage, and has a passion to help the elevator, its employees, and customers succeed.

The successful candidate will utilize their grain industry and management experience, strong character and integrity, and passion for leading and serving people to guide and carry out the long-term vision for the company.

To be highly effective in this position, candidates must be outgoing, with excellent public relations and interpersonal skills, and have a willingness to take on challenges as they arise and solve them. You must be self-driven and good-natured, have a positive mindset and be able to remain calm and work with people in all kinds of situations.

A strong understanding of grain marketing and merchandising is critical; solid grain accounting skills and a financial background are key.

Possessing a growth-oriented mindset, excellent people management and communications skills, a solid leadership track record, and a passion for building a solid team of employees who are dedicated to serving the customers well and with respect, are all key. Having the desire and ability to talk to former customers, accept constructive criticism, help producers find new ways to sell their crop, and put on boots and go outside if needed, are also valuable.

Facilities are very modern and second to none in dumping capacity and speed. The Board supports continued growth and expansion in trade territory, customer base, and volume. The new General Manager must be a forward thinker who has the ability to work with the Board in establishing a vision for the future, stay focused on new and future growth opportunities, and plan and carry out strategies for continued growth and expansion.

This cooperative has developed a reputation over its history for being the best service elevator in the area, from getting trucks in and out to friendly customer service. With over 110 years of success and a loyal customer base that cares about their elevator, they desire to remain independent and to continue to provide the very best service possible.

The new General Manager will enjoy getting out and meeting with customers and being a part of the community. A good sense of humor and a keen ability to listen to all stakeholders in the company will be invaluable.

In recent years, significant capital projects have helped to make this elevator more efficient and attractive to a larger pool of farmers. Through automation, separating corn and bean dumping and storage, and increased storage capacity, they have striven to continually make significant investments in their facilities to meet the demand of today's producers. Combining excellent facilities with a great team of people is their goal so that they are well equipped to continue to grow and be a competitive leader in their geographic area.

If you are looking to lead a financially-stable, successful company and appreciate the ongoing management challenges being a General Manager entails, take a strong look at this opportunity. If managing risk while continuing to grow; managing people and helping them grow; dealing with ongoing changes in federal and state regulations related to banking, safety, environmental (OSHA and EPA) and other issues; meeting operational and logistical challenges as patrons continue to rapidly grow; and other challenges inherent to the grain industry all excite you, this may be an opportunity that fits you perfectly.

Located among some of the best farmland in Illinois and the Midwest and in the midst of a thriving rural area with excellent schools, communities, and family values, you will have the benefit of living in the country or in one of several forward-thinking communities nearby. You will also be within easy driving distance of a wide variety of educational, entertainment, and cultural opportunities, including two major Illinois universities.

Interviews for this position will be held in March 2020 with the intent of having the new General Manager on the job as soon as is feasible for the chosen candidate.

Salary will likely be in the $85,000 to $110,000+ range based on experience, with excellent benefits including a pickup truck and a healthy bonus based on company profitability.
