    Description

International grain processing company located in east Central Illinois is seeking a Grain Buyer to oversee the ongoing purchase of corn to feed their processing operations.

Built upon a foundation of hard work, dignity and trust, this company is looking to strengthen their partnerships with farmers and grain companies in the US for the purpose of purchasing corn, not acquiring assets.

The successful individual will be a grain professional who understands the US grain markets and enjoys working with others in an international culture to ensure the timely and stable supply of quality corn. This candidate must enjoy developing quality relationships and be equally skilled in talking with farmers and commodity brokers while also helping to educate and train other team members as they assist with corn procurement.

Understanding the multiple factors that impact the market and communicating with and advising the parent company on a procurement strategy will be key along with helping with price and process improvements.

You will oversee the purchase of a steady and significant amount of grain each month and take into consideration the quality, logistics, and negotiation of contracts. You will coordinate, arrange and record all storage and transportation of purchased corn from the point of origin to its delivery to the processing facilities overseas.

This individual will gather and analyze data and communicate with other company leaders via written reports, video conference, and phone communications.

Travel is required with this opportunity, including about two days per month to oversee the loading of an ocean going vessel. Flexibility regarding hours is needed to coordinate periodic international communications.

The ideal location to live for this opportunity is in the Champaign, Illinois region.

A grain origination or a commodity trading background is preferred. Compensation for a full-time individual will likely be in the $100,000 range.

Qualified grain professionals please contact Dave Allen.
