To be highly effective in this position, a candidate must have a strong grain merchandising and marketing background; be an outgoing, self-driven people person who deals openly and honestly with the customers, employees, and the Board; have the ability to create a plan with a vision for where you would like to see the company in 3-5 years and beyond; be able to lead effectively and develop great employee relations without worrying about hurting the feelings of employees when things are done differently; and be customer friendly and willing to leave the office to visit customers.
A solid grain accounting and financial background and a passion for building a solid team of employees who are dedicated to serving the customers well are also key.
The Board strongly desires to stay independent and be locally owned. They need a leader who will work through the challenges, get their equipment updated and improve the facility so it will be able to handle the bigger grain demands, and turn them into a profitable, efficient facility capable of expanding the business and taking care of their very loyal customer base.
