    Description

    Financially solid Central Illinois multi-location grain company is seeking an experienced, self-starting Grain Operations Manager who will be a key member of their leadership team and oversee the operations, maintenance, and repairs of their facilities.

    In this hands-on leadership role, you will have multiple responsibilities. You will use your millwright, maintenance, and supervisory skills to handle electrical projects, millwright work, and repairs; you will engage the operations team to help in these processes with a goal of building trust and a level of skill that will allow them to do things and handle most issues on their own.

    The ideal candidate will have at least 10-15 years of hands-on experience, successful people management experience, and be able to diagnose issues and handle difficult situations as they arise. PLC / technology experience is a huge plus so you can help this company go to the next level in upgrading facilities.

    Being a skilled millwright is the most highly desired skill set for this role. Good electrical skills are also key. You will also lead safety training and activities and coordinate scheduling for team members to attend Grain and Feed and GEAPS training sessions.

    A service truck with tools will be provided to drive between facilities; bucket trucks are also available to utilize as needed. During harvest will be the busiest time as you deal with breakdowns, check on operational activities, and help locations make decisions / answer questions that arise regarding dryers, fans, storage, and other issues.

    Coaching and mentoring are key; ongoing education and training of all outside team members are very important. This company strives to empower each location to be informed and able to make decisions and find solutions on their own in real-time as needed.

    Location managers at all locations will communicate and report directly to you. You will work with them on maintenance reminders, safety, operational issues, repairs, and other challenges that arise. Excellent communication skills are critical as you interact daily with team members and share insights with other company leaders into what is going on within the company and any potential challenges, ideas, and solutions.

    This role offers a lot of independence; you will not be micro-managed. You will be able to figure things out, work at your own pace and get things done. You will have input with and be able to share advice with company leadership on what needs to be done to improve facilities and help the company move forward. As capital projects are taken on, you will be involved in planning for them and oversee the day-to-day progress on the ground once the project is underway.

    Compensation will be in the $75-100,000+ range based on experience plus bonus and excellent benefits.
