Respected and financially sound multi-location agronomy, energy, feed, and grain cooperative in Western Michigan is seeking a CEO who is a motivated and committed servant leader. This individual will bring multi-location and / or multi-department agribusiness leadership (in agronomy, feed, or grain) along with team-building skills, unquestionable integrity, and a vision for setting priorities in leading an existing team of talented professionals to the next level of success.
The successful candidate will be a clear communicator with excellent people skills who excels at building relationships on trust. You must have a strong business acumen with the ability to help team members set clear boundaries and goals to operate successfully and thrive while not micromanaging. Thinking out of the box, being assertive and willing to creatively manage risks, making tough decisions, and guiding the team with transparency are also key.
Outgoing, honest, and fiscally responsible will describe this leader who must have a big-picture understanding of where the cooperative is trending and be able to develop a vision for the future of the company. This person will also be humble, willing to get their hands dirty and help all team members develop, grow and achieve goals and know they are an important part of the team.
The new CEO will project strong leadership, energy, and problem-solving skills. As issues often arise at a fast pace, you must be ready to take on multiple tasks, analyze problems, and make decisions all while being visible to customers, employees, and the community.
This cooperative is very family-oriented and desires to build on over 100 years of dedicated and very good service to patrons while continuing to update facilities to profitably meet future needs. It's a good group of people who enjoy what they do; people who join their team typically stay. To continue this, the new CEO must be flexible and change with the times to stay on top of and utilize the amazing technology and new tools that can maximize efficiency while never losing sight of the customer and team member needs.
This CEO will build trust among departments and locations and team up with a Board that is passionate about keeping the cooperative independent and thriving as a leader in the communities they serve. They will stand behind a leader who is creative in looking for other opportunities that will improve their financial health and grow the company.
This opportunity is located in a beautiful area of Western Michigan with many lakes, ample hunting, and exceptional school systems. It is also within a short distance to very nice urban communities with a wide variety of entertainment and recreational opportunities.
Ideally, candidates will have a farm background with successful agribusiness management experience and be seeking a long-term career where they can put their positive mark on this business while putting down roots in Western Michigan.
