Thriving Illinois grain cooperative is seeking a Grain Merchandiser who will play a key role in buying and selling grain and providing outstanding customer service.

You will earn a significant amount of responsibility and have the freedom in this position to grow and develop your grain merchandising skills.  This opportunity offers as diverse of merchandising opportunities as you will find anywhere.

You will be teamed up in an environment where the manager will coach and communicate with you regularly and is open minded to new ideas and ways of thinking and approaching the markets.  If you have a better way, he will listen.

Great opportunity for a grain professional with at least 1-2 years experience to be in a situation to "do" the grain business.

You will use your excellent phone skills to communicate continually with farmers, brokers, and other merchandisers.  Being on the phone is a big part of this job.

This person must possess a solid understanding of grain options, spreads, and a variety of farmer marketing contracts and know how they impact farmers as well as company marketing.

You will manage the company basis ownership position, daily bids, the company's long / short position, and learn the marketing opportunities and trends in the region and use this knowledge to sell grain.

A good personality, being easily approachable by farmer customers and co-workers, and maintaining a calm and positive demeanor are key in this position.

You must recognize each customer is different and expand your thinking as you manage producer offers and special farmer marketing contracts.

Close attention to detail is important as every offer must be entered on a daily basis.

Being capable of using Excel spreadsheets is a bonus, and you must be willing to assist others in the company when needed, such as accounting.

You will have the opportunity to learn train loading and shipping procedures and be able to help load trains as needed.

Located in a great rural environment with major urban communities and lots of entertainment and cultural opportunities within easy driving distance.

Salary will likely be in the $60-65,000 range plus excellent benefits.
