Multi-location Illinois grain company seeks a skilled Grain Merchandiser with at least 3 to 5 years experience who will work side-by-side the General Manager and CFO in making key revenue and business decisions.
You will get to wear more than one hat as you learn significant insight into all aspects of running a successful grain company.
This person will be self-starting, organized, and have a clear understanding of how margins impact the accounting processes including the P&L. A laid-back, customer-friendly personality and the ability to roll with the punches would be ideal.
Merchandising will be the primary responsibility of this position. Grain origination and providing quality customer service will also be key.
The successful individual will deal with customers both actively and passively. There will be time for getting out in the country to talk with and get to know patrons.
Telephone calls with farmer customers and brokers will make up a large part of the work day.
Contract entry and tracking on the sales side, including rail shipments, will be critical. Accuracy, organization, and attention to detail are key attributes to have.
Some truck dispatch and management will also be a part of this position. This has historically operated very smoothly with a good system in place.
